Dear Diary,

Hello again. There is a lot to this successful trading lark. Thinking about it I am surprised even 5% of people make money – I would have thought it would be less.

There must be so many out there going through the motions blindly not realising what they do not know. You are probably familiar with the saying that goes something like this – “the more I know the more I realise I do not know”. That is how I am feeling now but for the first time I actually think I know enough to make a decent go of it and although I am sure I have only scraped the surface I think I have good enough theory base to make a good start. Going to get some live coaching and mentoring though as I am a big believer that a small investment in myself at the start will save a huge amount of possibly lost trading money and importantly a LOT of wasted time. And while I am in the quoting mood – a wise person once said “you cannot buy back time”. Might have been my Dad who told me but even though he claimed it was his saying I think he was trying to be clever (like all Dads, you know).

I am really excited as since I wrote last I bought myself some presents as reward for all the studying I have been doing. My Home Office had a good PC but only one monitor, although it has a 19inch screen so quite a lot can fit. Even so I found I was opening and closing applications all the time like email, internet, lessons, charting platform, broking program and so on. So I bought another monitor to match in order to run a dual setup. All was good I thought but on going to plug it in I released my PC had only one video output..hmmm. But after a quick call to the computer shop I found I could get a dual output video card for under $40 – excellent! so I got that and popped it in myself as was a straightforward plug and play once the drivers were installed. Also came with some software that allowed me to split the screen so I have one thing on one monitor and the charts always open on the other. I mentioned this to the guys at StraightForex and they said they would have happily helped advise me on setting up multiple monitors as they have extensive IT experience themselves – good to know.

I have only been using it for a few days but cannot go back to one now, ever!. Possibly the best thing I have done recently (after taking this cou
rse) as it makes life immeasurably easier. Thinking about 3 monitors now..hehe.

Anyway, in keeping with my good mood here is another trading joke. Cheerio.

Two stock brokers, Jon and James, head out for their usual 18 holes of golf. Jon offers James a $50 bet. James agrees and they're off. They shoot a great game. After the 8th hole, James is ahead by one stroke, but cuts his ball into the rough on the 9th. "Help me find my ball. Look over there," he says to Jon. After a few minutes, neither has any luck. Since a lost ball carries a four point penalty, James secretly pulls a ball from his pocket and tosses it to the ground. "I've found my ball!" he announces. "After all of the years we've been partners and playing together," Jon says, "you'd cheat me out of a lousy 50 bucks?" "What do you mean, cheat? I found my ball sitting right there!" "And you're a liar, too!" Jon says. "I'll have you know I've been STANDING on your ball for the last five minutes!"
